Jamie's Cherub by Gail Faulkner

I just love Gail Faulkner's books. No matter how strong and alpha they are, once the Hero finds his 'other half', his soul mate, he's as gentle, considerate and kind with her, as he is rough tough and mean with others.

Jamie's Cherub is a departure from Ms Faulkner's other books. for one, Jamie is a werewolf. two, our Heroine has some BIG changes. Genetic based changes, and it all works well with the story.

In fact, I loved how Emily decides it's time for the ride of her life, and she gets so much more then she bargains for. From shy and retiring, to mess with my daughter or man (or were, as it may be) and you're ass is fried.

The way Jamie's Cherub ends, it's obvious that this is going to be a series (gossip has, the twins will have their own story!) And I truly loved how things aren't always what they seem. There were two surprises for me in this story, and being someone who reads a lot of stories, I can usually tell where the story line is headed. This was a fun and surprising read, and I enjoyed it immensely.

Definitely a ruby slipper pair. :) ruby slippers

    Jamie's Cherub by Gail Faulkner
Jamie MacKelvin is Alpha Prime, king of the shape shifter wolves—and alone. Driven by duty, honor and the heritage of Alpha Primes, he's long since given up finding the one female who is his.

Emma's dark history has given her a beautiful daughter and the horrifying discovery that humans are not alone on Earth. The last thing Emma needs is a complex anybody, much less a dominant Alpha King.

Even if she wasn't his biological mate, he'd love her gentle heart, brave soul and intoxicatingly full figure. Claiming a reluctant mate is difficult—keeping her, the most dangerous thing they will ever do. Emma and her daughter are unwitting keys in an ancient battle for power. Ensuring their future will require a horrific price. Jamie is prepared to pay with anything except Emma.

Her trust in him as Master is the one thing that can save her, and Jamie will stop at nothing to acquire it, even if the cost is losing her ability to love him. Grimly he clings to the belief that mate bond is the last wildcard even the fates can't control.

Just the right amount of dominace, to show her how much he loves her, and that she can trust him, this is a YUMMY book! :)

Vicious by Sherri King

YUM! I just knew this one was going to be good. Disappointing that it's still a Novella (15,000-29,999 words) but since this is one of my favorite authors, it's worth it.

Vicious
Sherri King

John Spada is confused. Enya Merritt is running for her life (and a little horny). Johnny Vicious is an 'oh so good looking' bad boy.
They make an interesting menage...well, maybe not :)

      excerpt:
People are not always what they seem. This old adage is especially true of vigilante superhero Johnny Vicious.

After saving Enya from a couple of assassins, Johnny and Enya know an immediate and tense attraction. But a beat cop, John Spada, has come between the two star-crossed lovers. And now Enya must choose between sane, sensible John or wild and untamed Vicious.

It's too bad she can't have them both. But then again, maybe…

and my oh my, this lady is no fool, and if John wasn't so cute and sexy, he'd need to be hit on the side of his head. But then, Vicious would probably protect him.

Again, I enjoy this series, and can't wait for the next one to come out (Ryan Murdock? *G* I can't guess who it would be about this time, will she introduce some one she hasn't mentioned before?)

Castaways - Cheyenne McCray

**ADULT!! MATURE CONTENT**

Castaways by C.McCray is a short novel that has just been released this week at Ellora's Cave. Now I discovered Ms.Cray, when I came across her wonderland series. From there, I started reading her cowboy series, Wild, and I loved her Black Knight (which looks like it's going to be another series), in fact, the only ones that I haven't enjoyed that much, are her Serephine series. (That's just me, not that they aren't good, but I like her other stories better)

Castaways is a contemporary story, and I thoroughly, (Thoroughly!) enjoyed it. In fact, the ending was Quite a surprise to me. Usually I can tell what's coming, and am prepared, but this was a surprise. *G* In fact, my mouth flew open when I read the section, of the characters getting back to civilization. For some reason, it wasn't what I was expecting. *G* I think I got involved in the "here and now" of the story, that I forgot about the 'beginning' and the hints that were there. :) but no more, or I'll let the cat out of the bag :D

EXCERPT:

      Sirena can't remember anything.

Apparently she needed a break so badly that her mind took a holiday. Unfortunately, so did the yacht carrying her to the Bahamas. After surviving a brutal storm, she's stranded on an island with Den and Mike, two incredibly gorgeous men who turn her inside out with their smoldering looks. Maybe forgetting isn't so bad—but Sirena has a feeling she'll want to remember every carnal detail of her time with these two steamy hunks.

Den can't get enough of this beautiful Siren of the sea. He knows nothing about her, but finds himself drawn to her so powerfully that he has to have her. He's shared women with Mike before, hell, that's what this trip was all about… Only once they're off the island, Den intends to keep Sirena for himself.

Dragons and Dungeons by Tawny Taylor AND Sterling Files - Steele by Sherri King

Dragons and Dungeons
Tawny Taylor

Personally, I think this was one of the best that she's written. I loved her heroine. Trying so hard to keep her feet on the ground, yet tired of always playing it safe.

I thought that the characters could have a lot more depth to them, but this is a novella, so she really couldn't get that involved with their personalities. By the way that the story is written, it looks like she's going to have a whole series of the Immortal Secrets. I can't wait :)

    excerpt:

"Play it safe." Antiques buyer Kaya Cordova needs the ancient Philippino copperplate she's just lost at a private auction, but she has six-foot-something of sexy, mysterious male standing in her way. Spurred on by her boss and a promise of a fat bonus check, she decides to try to talk him into selling it to her. Unfortunately, she has no idea what she's in for.

Tall, blond, built like a god and sinfully rich, Jestin Draig looks all-American, but appearances can be deceiving. He has a dark secret that will force Kaya to quit bowing to the master of fear and accept him as her new Master. He'll give her everything she desires, but at a great price…to both of them.

Sound good to you. It was good for me. do we need a cigarette now? :D

You can find Ms Taylor's e-books, here I've got a few of them. Siren's Dance Asteroid 6969 was a surprise to me, and I liked it. (the surprise and the ending)

NOW for Sherri King! :)

Sterling Files - Steele
Sherri King

I started out reading Ms Kings, Horde Wars Series. Which I loved (and can't wait till she's finished with Grimm's Tale!) Her heroines are usually kick ass, and not willing to put up with any crap from the hero :) (always a favorite with me :) Bachelorette is another good one, but I haven't started on her MoonLust series yet. *g* I'm always clicking on the Fetish book, but I haven't bought that one. I think it's the cover I'm so hot for :)

This is going to be a series, and I'm so glad, because my favorite stories are paranormal. The things you can do when "who knows what powers lurk in the shadows" /the shadow knows/ boggle my mind. With Steele, it seemed so true to human nature, that a drunk bastard of a father would do this to his kid (human nature being horrendous as it is), and so plausible that an accident like Marla's could make her change into what she became. (hey, if a bite from a spider can make Spiderman, then I don't see why an electric charge couldn't change a person! :)

    excerpt:

After a year-long coma, Marla has returned home from the hospital. But something about her has changed. Something unbelievable.

Brian Steele, a vigilante and ex-underground boxer, has come into Marla's life to protect her and help her understand her strange new abilities. But before long, he also has plans to seduce her down to her very soul.

How will Marla, still weak and confused, cope with such a virile man as Steele? She doesn't know, but she's ready to learn. As soon as possible.

mmmmm, yummy. *G* of course, another story that could have been longer in my opinion (novella's are to short). But then, they all could when they're good :)

*G* I can't wait for Vicious story! :) You can find Ms King's e-books, here

Awaken Me Darkly - Gena Showalter

As I was browsing Angela Knight's site, she had written a little review Knight Errant: Here Be Dragons!

Well, of course, I went to check out a story that an excellent writer thought was good. I didn't get this book, but I did get a book from this author Called Awaken Me Darkly.

Ooooo, very nice. I love this strong heroine (she reminds me of a psychic Anita Blake /LKHamilton/)

I went to Amazon, hoping that they might have it for download, nope, and there was no way I was going to buy it in paperback, (geeze! the Price!) but I did find it over at PaperbackDigital at a Much More Reasonable price, plus I got to download it right away (saving 4 dollars!)

Now I have a few more books of hers that I've got on my list to get, because I really enjoyed how she wrote. I like her heroines, and her hero's are strong enough, that a strong women doesn't sacre them.
(I especially like this!)

So a new author for me to read.

Bad Attitude (and Born to be Bad) - Sherrilyn Kenyon

I was looking for the Bad novel series that I knew S.Kenyon had released this month. By accident I had bought Born to be BAD. (Which is good, but I completely ignored reading the whole front of the book, where it very clearly states, "Three sizzling novellas".

*G* I was just to anxious, saw S.Kenyon's name, and the "BAD" and grabbed the book. I'm glad I got it, Even though I have one of the novellas (Captivated by you) in her Tie Me Up book, I still had 2 other BAD stories that I hadn't read.

1-One BAD Night = Has he really gone to the 'bad' side? Agent Samantha Winslow will find out.
2-BAD to the Bone = Kyle was bored to tears, tired of recuperating on this boring island, till the winner of the Hideaway Heroine Sweepstakes, Marianne, crossed his path. Then he decides that he needs to help her with her uncover fantasy.

Point is, I really wanted the new full lenght novel, Bad Attitude. Desperate (same feeling I had as when I got Sins of the Night) I jumped on line, went to paperback digital and found the e-book for it. (hey la! LOVE e-books! INSTANT gratification!)

I'll do like I did with Sins of the Night, and buy the 'paperback' edition at a later time.

I must say, Bad Attitude was extremely good. Love the Hero and Heroine, both with very bad attitudes, and how they finally started softening up with one another, and finally (of course) falling in love.
It didn't help that, after getting him out of jail, she did something so stupid as to sick the cops on him. (Really thought that was going to be the end of them there for a minute)

Was also a surprise ending. Not so much as the person they had to save, I did suspect that part, but who the other sniper was. THAT was a surprise. *G* Both Times. LOL and you'll have to read the book to find out what I'm talking about :) I'm glad I got it though, as usualy Sherrilyn Kenyon's stories are WONDERFUL! and one of my favorite authors.

Dark Prince /Dark Descent/ - Christine Feehan

Christine Feehan Web Site

They've re-issued Dark Prince this month, and I'm so glad they did, because it was the only one that I was missing, and I've had a hard time finding it.

Better yet, they've also included a bonus short story of Dark Descent. Which, my guess, and I think I've read some where else, that the people (Traian and Joie) and the wizards cave that they've discovered is going to be in Vikirnoff's and Natalya's story, and they're story is going to actually have some of the orginal Carpathian language.

cool.
But I'm anxious for the book! LOL I know, I know, I read way to fast.

I want Sherrilynn Kenyons book to hurry up and get her (not just Sins of the Night (due in July), but Wren's story also, which isn't due out till january of 2006!) /and we won't even TALK about Ash's 2 books coming out in 2007!/

I want Nina Bangs next book to hurry up and get here, and she just had a new one this month, and I want not only Christine Feehan's next 'Dark' book, but I'm barely holding on for October, for her next GhostWalker book, who's going to have that hunk a hunk a cajun yummy maleness Gator. (I just KNOW this is going to be my FAVORITE! LOL I mean, come on, Gator and Flame? oh yea. my imagination is already panting :)

Dark Prince started it all in the Dark Series. The first time a Carpathian male found a human life mate, and the change that she has to go through.

I admit, that I like the stories where the women aren't quite so wishy washy whimps. (Dark Destiny is great, Dark Challenge, Dark Legend are 2 favorites) I really didn't like the last one Dark Secret very much. I felt like she was such a whimp and he was just to arrogent, (even for a carpathian male). Dark Prince was good, even if Raven was a little bit wussy, she was still strong enough to put up with all that carpathian "maleness" :)

I really love how they (the men) start out as so 'me he man boss' but once they fall under their lifemates spell, they're wound around the females little finger.
*G* That's the way it should be :)

I also like how, in these more recent novels (well, in all of them really) the previous characters make walk through appearances. There's a connection through-out the whole series. And how you can see how these characters have changed, grown, like you would actually do in a real marriage/life, with your spouse/mate.

If you haven't read any of her Darks series yet, this is a good one to start with, only because it gives you a bases of how desperate the Carpathian people are about the survival of their race. And how loyal they feel toward Mikyal.

You don't have to read them in order (I didn't) and MsFeehan explains in each book, the 'background', but this one is a good start, and a must have, if you're like me, and saving the books for your collection.
(besides, it comes with that great bonus story Dark Descent, and I can't wait for Savannah to find out another female hunts vampires too! *G* of course, that's if her and gregori show up in Vikirnoff's and Natalya's story, which I can't imagine Gregori not being there for such an important and deadly find as the wizards cave, and the fight with the vampires, that I'm sure will happen.)

*G* Can you tell, that I'm going to be mighty disappointed, if most of the characters don't come together for this 'fine and fight' :)

Wicked Nights - Nina Bangs

ok, last year, (and usually) I'm into scifi/fantasy books. but so far this year, I'm very into what they call the 'paranormal romance' (and erotica) books.

I must say, I love the way Nina Bangs writes. There is SUCH humor in her stories, and each one I've read, seems to get better and better.

The first book I got by her, was from the used book store, titled Master of Ecstasy. excellent.

Her next book I happen to run across, was brand new, titled Night Bites. Truthfully, I didn't even realize it was her, till after I got home. EXCELLENT.

Last night, I found her web site and discovered that she has a new book out this month titled, Wicked Nights.

this morning at 9am, I'm sitting in front of the book store, waiting for it to open. :)

(you think I like this author?)

I'm not even finished reading it, and I have to say, I LOVE THIS BOOK *G*

I was disappointed that it's a trade paperback (14.00 compared to the outrageous $7.00 that books are now) But face it. Nina Bangs is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, I knew the book would be good (having read the excerpt from her site) and I needed a book. So I bought it. (Of course)

Like her others, it's about love lust and vampires. Better yet (and better then her Night Games book, which was good, but not the same) it has Sparkle Stardust as one of the characters. *G* that Sparkle. She's such a cosmic troublemaker of outstanding sexual prowess. :D

(I maybe old now, but I can proudly say, that I've acutally had a 'super-O' :D )

If Sparkle is in the story, you know things are going to get hot and sexy from the very beginning. And sure enough, it has. And the confusion and lust that she inspires in the couples that she 'helps' is hilariously wonderful.

I especially love the inner dialogue that the main characters (mostly the women) have with themselves when eyeing the yummy hunks.

(ie: from Night Bites, Oooh, yes! Pant, pant, pant. Woo-hoo, come and get me, you big beautiful hottie. That welcome was from the sluts who lived in her basement.)
*G* and not the basement of the Woo-Woo Inn :D

(ie: from Wicked Nights, But the chocolate navel thing sounded like fun. Maybe she'd try it on... "Give me a pound of the chocolate-covered cherries." Impulse buy, impulse buy. She ignored her inner voice )
And the MEN! LOL everything they go through, trying to hide their 'vampireism', who cares when they look that hot?

If you want hot romance with a smile and twist, then this author is for you. I admit, that I don't have everyone of her books (didn't realize till last night, that she's been writing longer then I thought, but I'm keeping my eyes out for them now) but everyone that I've read, has had me laughing and sighing and cuddley with the hubby.

These are keeper books, and I'll anxiously await for when she has a new one on the market.
